Driver Killed In Dodge County Accident Identified

The driver killed in a Dodge County accident last week has been identified.

Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt issued a statement Tuesday (7/5/2022), saying the driver of the Kenworth dump truck involved in the accident was identified as William R. Vollmer, 67 years old, from Iron Ridge, Wisconsin.  An investigation by the Dodge County Medical Examiner’s Office the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has determined that the crash is a traffic fatality.

On June 28, 2022 at approximately 2:05 p.m., the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle crash on County Road S at County Road WS, in the Town of Hubbard.   

Initial investigation showed that Vollmer was operating a 1999 Kenworth dump truck , traveling west on County Road S approaching County Road WS.  The dump truck failed to stop at the stop sign, crossed both lanes of County Road WS, entered a driveway, crossed over railroad tracks, became airborne, and overturned.  

Vollmer was the only occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead on scene by the Dodge County Medical Examiner.

Assisting at the crash scene were: Iron Ridge Fire Department, Neosho Fire Department, Hustisford Fire Department, Iron Ridge First Responders, Horicon EMS, Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, Wisconsin DNR, Iron Ridge Police Department, DCERT and the Dodge County Medical Examiner’s Office.
