Drug Take Back Event In FDL Postponed

The Drug Take Back Day scheduled for Saturday, April 25 in Fond du Lac has been postponed. That announcement was made Friday by the DEA and Drug Free Communities. The annual event is a collaborative effort with local law enforcement, healthcare and pharmacies, used to promote securing and disposing of old or unused medications.

Due to the COVID-19 health crisis, the DEA postponed the event. Also making the event difficult to implement was the fact that many drug drop boxes in Fond du Lac County are closed or have limited access, due to COVID-19 challenges. DFC will keep the community up to date as we know more about the campaign.

Since opening the first Drug Drop Box in the State of Wisconsin at the City of Fond du Lac Police Department in 2008, more than 24.5 million pills have been collected in Fond du Lac County. In 2019, Fond du Lac County collected 5,275 pounds of medication from our 13 drug drop locations.
