Drunk Driver Causes Damage To Three Cars, House, Eludes Police and Crashes Into Police Car Before Stopped

The City of Fond du lac Police Department responded to a call of a hit and run Friday, November 25, 2022, at 8:59 PM in the parking lot of Festival Foods on the city’s east side.
The caller reported that a black SUV rammed a vehicle in the parking lot and then took off.
While an officer was responding to this call, The Fond du Lac County Communications Center received a call reporting a black SUV that looked like it was just in an accident was travelling at a high rate of speed westbound on Scott Street.
Moments later they received a call that a black SUV backed into vehicle at the intersection of W. Scott Street and Lakeshore Drive and drove away.
The black SUV continued it’s path of destruction and crashed into a car so hard in the 300 block of Scott Street that it was pushed into a house in the area.
Officers with the City Of Fond du Lac located the black SUV at the intersection of north Main Street and east McWilliams Street.
The vehicle pulled over when officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle but while in contact with the driver, the driver took off in the vehicle and fled from officers.
The vehicle pursuit reached speeds of approximately 50 MPH traveling through areas in the central portions of the City.
City of Fond du Lac Police Officers as well as Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies pursued the vehicle until the vehicle struck a sheriff’s department squad car at the intersection of S. Park Avenue and E. Second Street.
A high-risk traffic stop was conducted and the 57-year-old Fond du Lac male driver was taken into custody and arrested on charges of Reckless Driving, Knowingly Fleeing an Officer, Threats to a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting an Officer, Operating while Intoxicated 2nd Offense, and Felony Bail Jumping.
The Fond du Lac Police Department says the investigation into this incident and vehicle pursuit is at the preliminary stages and remains under active investigation.
