Dual-QB Attack Powers Fond du Lac to First FVA Win in Shutout Over Appleton East Plus Friday Scores

After a tough loss to Kaukauna last week, the Fond du Lac Cardinals found a silver lining—and a spark—in backup quarterback Eli Michalkiewicz. That spark turned into a full-blown fire Friday night as Fondy unleashed a dynamic two-quarterback system to dominate Appleton East 35-0, earning their first Fox Valley Association (FVA) win of the season.
With starter DeAndre Williamson returning to health, head coach leaned into a dual-threat approach in a must-win conference matchup. Michalkiewicz got the nod to start and wasted no time making an impact, leading the Cardinals to an opening touchdown drive capped by a 23-yard strike. The momentum surged after Connor Gudex snagged an interception on defense, and Michalkiewicz followed up with a 1-yard touchdown run, pushing the lead to 16-0 after a successful two-point conversion.
The second half saw Williamson take the reins, orchestrating a scoring drive that ended with a 2-yard touchdown pass to Guardian Harris. Both quarterbacks continued to shine, each adding a rushing touchdown as Fond du Lac’s offense clicked on all cylinders. Meanwhile, the defense held firm, forcing a second turnover and preserving the shutout.
The win not only showcased the versatility of Fondy’s quarterback room but also marked a turning point in their season. With confidence building and homecoming on the horizon, the Cardinals will look to carry this momentum into next Friday’s matchup against Hortonville at Cardinal Stadium.
