EAA AirVenture attendance record set second year in a row

Official numbers have been released, and as anticipated, EAA AirVenture 2024 broke attendance records again this year.
Roughly 686,000 people passed through the gates of AirVenture during the seven day event. Up about 9000 from the record set last year.
Wittman regional airport, the airport where the fly-in takes place, registered 16,780 aircraft operations in the 11-day period from July 18-28, which is an average of approximately 113 takeoffs/landings per hour when the airport is open.
2846 planes were registered as taking part in the show plane portion of the event including vintage, homebuilts, warbirds and ultralights.
About 40,000 people occupied roughly 15,000 campsites during the week, which included fly- in and drive in sites.
2,581 attendees registered at the International Visitors Tent from a record-setting 98 countries outside the U.S. 836 media representatives were on-site, from six continents.
And a total of 6,000 volunteers contributed in excess of 250,000 hours in setting up, running the event and tearing it all down.
Its estimated that the Fly-in brought $170 million in economic impact to the five county area including Winnebago, Outagamie, Fond du Lac, Calumet, and Brown Counties.
Next year’s event is planned for July 21-27.
