EAA AirVenture gets clean record during event, though a couple crashes occurred going to and from airshow

While EAA AirVenture had a near blemish free record during the event this year, it wasn’t without it’s secondary timeframe incidents. A woman who attended EAA AirVenture in a plane died in a plane crash on her way back to Pennsylvania Wednesday.

Anh-Thu Nguyen was flying from Oshkosh to Pennsylvania when her plane crashed in Greenwood, Indiana. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.

And one person was killed while enroute to Airventure as a result of a plane crash. That incident happened Monday July 21st in western Minnesota.

49-year-old David Dacus of San Francisco crashed while enroute to Fond du Lac’s airport after departing from Watertown, South Dakota a couple hours earlier.

Since 1973, there have been 57 crashes resulting in injuries and 33 fatalities on or near the EAA AirVenture grounds during the festival.
