Ebony Vision Black History Month Event Saturday from 2-4 PM
It’s that time again!! Ebony Vision’s Annual Black History Month event will be on February 25, 2023, from 2 pm –4 pm at Fond du Lac YMCA, 90 West 2nd St, Fond du Lac, WI. All are welcome to attend this family-friendly annual event.
As we recognize the diversity of our great nation, taking a month to specifically celebrate the contributions of African Americans helps foster greater appreciation and understanding. It is important to remember and honor the work of those, of the past and present, who have supported our community. From the transcendent writing of Zora Neale Hurston to the illuminating invention of Lewis Latimer, to the local Black leadership of Bishop Haywood (Pastor of Bread of Life Churches), and Daisy Frazier (President of Ebony Vision), working together to give spiritual support, educational guidance, and a real voice to the African American Community here in Fond du Lac as we all work together to Embrace, Celebrate, Educate and Empower the Diversity and Culture of Fond du lac, WI.
There will be live music from DJ Moe Craine, basket raffles, a fun Ghanaian music and dance performance by Edi Gbordzi, an engaging panel discussing this month’s theme and how it affects us today, snacks, desserts, refreshments, the 2023 Ishamon Harris Community Award and more!
The National 2023 Black History Month theme, “Black Resistance,” explores how African Americans have addressed historic and ongoing disadvantage and oppression, as evidenced by recent events. With all the turmoil that is going on in our country, we in the Fond du Lac Community choose to excel and thrive! Our panel will include local leaders who will share dialogue related to this year’s theme. The panelist includes Leslie Laster (Moraine Park Technical College), Laurice Synder (Fond du Lac School District), Keywon Brown (FDL Police Department), and Gary Moise (Marian University and the 2023 MLK Jr Spirit Award Winner).
Please join us! This event is FREE, family-friendly, and open to the public. Bring your neighbors, work colleagues, friends, and your family.
