Elderly woman found deceased in Lake Michigan near Sheboygan

Sheboygan County officials are investigating what led to the drowning death of an elderly woman in Lake Michigan Sunday afternoon.

Just before 5 p.m. the Sheboygan County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call regarding a motionless woman that was seen in the lake near the 200 Block of Juniper Drive, just south of Sheboygan.

The caller advised that the woman was not conscious and didn’t appear to be breathing, and was floating towards the shore.

A first responder arrived on scene and began to provide CPR to the woman, however she was eventually pronounced deceased.

It was learned the 80 year old woman, from the Sheboygan area, was seen walking in the water around 4:45 p.m. by nearby residents.

It’s suspected she accidentally drowned or had a medical event while in the water.
