Elks National Anthem Essay Winners Announced

Evans Elementary School students participated in the Elks Lodge 57 Americanism Committee Essay Contest by writing responses to the question “What Does the National Anthem Mean to Me?” Division 1 (fifth/sixth grade) first, second and third place were all students from Evans. Shown here with Mr. Lauby, Lodge 57 Americanism Chairman, are the fifth grade winners at the local level: Hannah Kurtz, Bresa Vuittonet, and Sarah Piper. Bresa Vuittonet and Hannah Kurtz were also selected as the first and third place winners, respectively, at the state level and were awarded $100 and $50 for their literary efforts.
