Emergency Crews Respond To Plane Crash In Southern Fond du Lac County

Alto Fire Department, Lifestar EMS and Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Officers are responding to a plane crash near the area of 49 and Hemp Road.

At about 7:50 PM, the Fond du Lac County Dispatch Center received a call from a person that saw a plane go down and heard a crash in the area.

Moments later the pilot of the plane called the dispatch center and confirmed the plane had crashed in the middle of a field and one person on the plane had a slight shoulder injury.

At 8:17 the Brandon/Fairwater Fire Department was paged to send their UTV.

As of 8:17, no emergency responders have been able to locate the plane. Dispatchers attempted to call back the pilot to get a better location or see if they have a drone but there was no answer.

County officers are requesting a drone from the City Of Fond du Lac Police Department.

At 8:21PM the Ripon Fire Department was also being requested for drone use but were unable to respond.

At 8:26 Waupun Fire Department is also being paged for their UTV.

Train traffic in the area is being stopped so emergency responders can utilize the tracks in the search for the plane.

At 8:30, dispatch was able to re-establish a connection with the pilot. He says responders should look for the strobes that are flashing on the airplane.

New information has come in and the pilot thinks they are west of the Waupun Airport which would put this about 4 miles south of where the first location was given nearer to the Fond du Lac/Dodge County line.

At 8:38 responders can see the lights of the plane and are trying to get to it.

At 8:41PM Lifestar EMS has made contact with the two individuals of the plane and will be bringing them out to the road using a UTV. They were located south of Amity Road, east of the railroad tracks in a marsh area.

According to a sheriff’s office press release, the pilot and passenger were two men in their 70’s from Texas on their way to EAA when the engine failed on their single engine ERCO Ercoupe. A wing was damaged in the crash.
