Escaped kangaroo on the loose near Wisconsin interstate
Drivers in the Portage area are being warned not to stop along the interstate looking for a missing kangaroo.
The Wisconsin State Patrol says four kangaroos escaped from a trailer along I-39 near Portage Sunday afternoon.
The animals got loose around noon near mile marker 85 while their owner was stopped to transfer animals between vehicles.
Two of the kangaroos were struck by vehicles on the northbound on-ramp from Highway 78 to I-39 and died.
The owner was able to recover a third kangaroo, but one remains missing.
The State Patrol is specifically warning drivers not to stop along the interstate to search for the animal, because doing so could create another traffic hazard.
