Events will go as originally planned at RNC in Milwaukee, despite assassination attempt

Heavy police presence is noted in the downtown Milwaukee area where the Republican National Convention starts today, just two days after the attempted assassination of former president Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday.

50,000 people are expected to attend from across the country, and the Secret Service started conducting a massive sweep of the area Sunday night, in the area surrounding the Fiserv Forum and its outlying perimeter, which has barricades in place, blocking streets and special fencing to keep anyone out who doesn’t have the proper credentials.

Organizers of the event say things will go on as planned at the convention, despite the incident Saturday.

Security downtown continues to be a top priority both inside and around the convention area with an expected 5000 plus people that will be protesting against Trump just outside the convention in a predetermined area set up for the protesters.

According to the Trump camp, the former president arrived in Milwaukee Sunday night.
