Extreme Cold Warning going into effect Tuesday at midnight with windchills as low as -35 degrees at that time

A “Cold Weather Advisory” is in effect for Fond du Lac County from now through Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at midnight, and at that time, an “Extreme Cold Warning” will go into effect until noon Tuesday.

Wind chills of 20-30 below zero are forecasted during the Cold Weather Advisory and they will dip early Tuesday morning to -35 which is what will prompt the Extreme Cold Warning.

The National Weather Service says wind chills this low can cause frost bite to exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

Dress in layers and include a hat, gloves and facemask if venturing outside. If traveling by car, especially late at night, make sure to have an emergency kit with you with some sort of heat source and ensure cell phone batteries are fully charged before you head out.

It’s also a good idea to tell someone where you will be and when, as well as your route you plan to take incase you run into car troubles.

The bitter cold temperatures finally subside Wednesday when we warm to a balmy 21 degrees.
