Fair weather to end the week, but soggy weekend looks likely

Low pressure passing through the area brought us some light rain overnight Monday, April 22, 2024, and it will again be the catalyst for showers and thunderstorms later Tuesday.

Winds start out, out of the south southwest Tuesday as that low pressure approaches us from the west, which will warm us up nicely, well into the upper 60s, approaching 70 before the winds switch from the north later Tuesday as a cold front drops down from the north as the center of the low pressure passes to our east. It’s that cold front that will cause an area of showers and some thunderstorms to spread over the area later Tuesday afternoon into evening. No severe weather is expected with any storms that do form and rain amounts will overall stay low, except where isolated showers and storms pass over.

Winds stay generally from the north on Wednesday as high pressure builds into the region giving us sunny skies, but keeping us a little cooler, with temperatures slightly below normal.

Winds will slowly turn easterly and then southeasterly Thursday as the next storm system approaches. This system has the attention of the Storm Prediction Center as they’re thinking it could bring severe weather outbreaks over the weekend just to our south. We’ll start to see rain from this system Friday morning but again, no severe weather is expected for our area at this time, however we do look to be in the running for a very wet weekend.
