Family Displaced After Overnight Fond du Lac Fire

Fond du Lac Fire / Rescue responded to 403 N. National Avenue around 9:30 PM Wednesday, October 19, 2022 for the report of fire in the attic of a single family home.
An occupant of the home was alerted of the fire when he noticed smoke coming from the roof while he was outside.
The occupant reentered the home to investigate and attempted to extinguish the fire from an interior closet but was unsuccessful due to the extent of the fire.
Two adults, one child, and a pet safely evacuated the house and called 911.
Upon arrival, fire and rescue crews found a significant amount of smoke coming from the peak of the roof and immediately entered the home to begin fighting the fire.
Firefighters ensured that all occupants were evacuated from the home and contained the fire to the center portion of the single story home.
The fire created extensive damage to three interior rooms, the attic space, and roof area.
Occupants of the home have been relocated due to the extent of fire, smoke, and water damage.
Fire investigators continue to work on determining the fires origin and cause.
The Fond du Lac Police Department assisted with traffic and scene control and Alliant Energy assisted with securing gas and electric utility services to the home.
There were no injuries reported from the fire.
