FDL Assistant Fire Chief Steve Beer Named Fire Chief For Hutchinson Kansas
Fond du Lac Fire Chief Peter O’Leary says Assistant Fire Chief Steve Beer will make a great new fire chief for Hutchinson, Kansas. Hutchinson City Manager John Deardoff Wednesday announced Beer will become the City’s new fire chief in early April. O’Leary has worked with Beer for the past eight years. He says Beer has had a long successful tenure in Fond du Lac and has had a hand on quite a few successes for the City’s fire department. In addition to being Assistant Fire Chief of Operations Beer has helped with the Fire Department’s capital purchases, major improvements in cold storage, worked on labor management issues and department accreditation. He also successfully completed executive fire officer training. He is currently working on a Master’s Degree in Leadership. O’Leary says they know their officers will get these types of opportunities and train people for the next step up in rank. Beer has been with the Fond du Lac Fire Department for nearly 28 years. He succeeds Hutchinson Fire Chief Kim Forbes who retired last November after 40 with the department, the last thirteen as Fire Chief.
