FDL City Council Considers Change to Bulky Waste Drop-Off Rates

The cost for city residents to use the bulky waste drop-off site may soon be changing. The City Council is considering a proposal that would make any residential garbage that won’t fit in one’s garbage can, but can fit in the city’s 95-gallon garbage cart, free of charge to drop off. A pickup truck load would be $20, a pickup truck load with a double-axle trailer load along with it would cost $40, with multiple fees possible if multiple vehicles are used. “Most people that come over there are bringing little odds and ends, so that would be free for them,” City Manager Joe Moore said. Moore tells us the city hopes to start the new fee structure on April 1st if the council gives its final approval to the plan. The proposal was first introduced to the council at last week’s meeting.
