FDL City Councilman Greg Giles Seeks New Term
Fond du Lac City Councilman Greg Giles is hoping voters will give him another two year term tomorrow. Giles was first appointed to the Council for a year to fill Dan Manning’s term when Manning resigned. Later he was elected to a two-year term. He likes the work that the Downtown and Lakeside Park Exploratory Committees did. He believes a new pavilion should be built in the park on the site of the current pavilion, but they have to keep in mind there are other venues in the City that could be impacted. He says it shouldn’t draw people away from the Eagles Club or the KC Hall. He says the Council did reach a bit of a compromise on the issue over lead pipe replacement for water services by allowing homeowners to pay off the cost over 10 years. He says most of the homes affected are in older parts of the City and effect people with lower incomes. Giles is the Executive Director and the CEO of the Fond du Lac Family YMCA and is the father of four children. He says his job and family do give him perspective as a Councilman. Giles is one of five candidates running for three seats on the Council.
