FDL County DA Issues Statement On Rittenhouse Acquittal

Attorney General candidate and Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney issued the below statement regarding the acquittal of Kyle Rittenhouse:

“Justice, not convictions, is the mission of any prosecutor. The not guilty verdicts in the Kyle Rittenhouse case are a clear example of justice prevailing and affirming one’s right to self-defense. Given the evidence, I would not have filed charges in this case.

“Tony Evers wrongly condemned and convicted a police officer in the court of public opinion, and his rhetoric stoked the flames of violence. Josh Kaul was nowhere to be found that night, and their lack of leadership put the lives of others at risk.

“This is a tragic example of why we must have law and order in our streets and why we rely on elected leaders to protect us. They failed us in Kenosha.”
