FDL County Officials Host Public Meeting on Sales Tax

Fond du Lac County officials were supportive of
continuing a half-percent sales tax during a public meeting in Ripon Wednesday
evening. The county sales tax has been in effect since 2010.

During the
meeting, officials talked about the impact the tax has had on improving roads –
explaining that if the tax were eliminated, property taxes would have to
increase to pay for road repairs. Other future plans also call for the tax to
fund an expansion in the county jail. The tax is set to expire at the end of
2021.

There is one more public hearing set for residents to offer feedback on
December 17th at the Fond du Lac City/County Government Center.
