FDL Homicide Suspect Makes Initial Court Appearance

The man suspected in the shooting homicide of 40 year old Brandon A. Johnson on Saturday August 20th in Fond du Lac made his initial appearence in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court Wednesday morning.
Timothy D Brown of Fond du Lac was officially charged with 1st degree intentional homicide, and felon in possession of a firearm for the shooting.
Fond du Lac Police Chief Aaron Goldstein said in a press conference Wednesday, “Today we send another message that we will stop at nothing to bring accountability to those who we believe put our community at risk. Simply stated, we won’t rest until you are found and in custody.”
Fond du lac County District Attorney Eric Toney also drove home the fact saying in the last year and a half, Fond du Lac has had 3 homicides and “We have a 100% arrest rate on them.” Toney went on to say that in a city like Milwaukee where they have an arrest rate of about 56%, someone may be able to get away with this, but in Fond du Lac County you will be caught and held accountable for your actions.
A criminal complaint of the incident shows that Johnson and Brown had gotten into an argument outside Leon’s Corner Pub on north Main Street around 3 AM August 20th.
Detectives used security camera footage from area businesses as well as residences in the area to show that Brown followed Johnson to the 200 block of Marquette street where he shot him four times, once between the eyes. Johnson was found at 7:20 in the morning on the sidewalk.
City of Fond du Lac police conducted an initial investigation and performed a search warrant two days later at Brown’s home at 29 west Cotton Street where they found clothing matching the description of the clothes Brown was wearing the night of the murder and also a pair of shoes which had dried blood on them that would later be found to be the blood of Johnson.
Brown said he did get into an argument with Johnson that night, but they went their separate ways after leaving Leon’s.
A preliminary hearing for Brown is scheduled for September 9 at 2 PM.
