FDL Man Arrested After Shooting Incident
On October 9, 2013 at approximately 9:27 p.m., a 19-year old Fond du Lac man who was involved in two incidents in which he allegedly fired shots from a gun, was taken into custody at gun point during a felony traffic stop by members of the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department, North Fond du Lac Police Department, Fond du Lac Police Department and Wisconsin State Patrol at the intersection of Winnebago St. and Prospect Ave in the Village of North Fond du Lac. A 47-year old North Fond du Lac man who was in the vehicle with the suspect at the time of the stop was also taken into custody for questioning.
The initial incident occurred at 7:10 p.m. on this date with a report of shots being fired outside a residence in the 700 block of Glenwood Drive in the City of Fond du Lac. Officers responding to the scene were able to confirm that a number of shots were fired by the suspect who fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. While city of Fond du Lac Police were investigating the scene and trying to determine the identity of the shooter. The Fond du Lac County Dispatch Center received a report of person with a gun who fired a shot into the air in the 600 block of Florida Ave in the Village of North Fond du Lac. The suspect who was seen running on foot from the area matched the description of the shooter from the earlier incident in the City.
Police Units from North Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department including their SWAT team, City of Fond du Lac Police and Wisconsin State Patrol responded to the area in the Village. Investigators were able to determine the identification of the suspect and learned that he was possibly at a residence in the 500 block of Saratoga Ave. in the Village of North Fond du Lac. As police units converged on the area, a vehicle was seen leaving the Saratoga St. residence, which resulted in the felony traffic stop of the suspect where he was taken into custody without further incident.
No one was injured in either of the shooting incidents. The suspect remains in police custody pending numerous criminal charges from both City of Fond du Lac Police and North Fond du Lac Police. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
