FDL Man Charged With Tax Fraud

Felony charges have been filed against a 25-year-old Fond du Lac man for allegedly filing false income tax returns. Adam Portman is charged with one count of theft and one count of filing a false income tax return. The criminal complaint alleges Portman filed false income tax returns for the tax years of 2014 and 2015 by inflating his Wisconsin withholding by $2,000 each year. The result is a larger refund than he was entitled to. He claims that in both cases he rushed in preparing his taxes and made mistakes. His initial appearance in Fond du Lac County Court is scheduled for February 14th.
