FDL Man Pleads To Sexual Assault And Battery Charges

A 42-year-old Fond du Lac man who sexually assaulted a babysitter has pled guilty to charges of 2nd degree sexual assault of child and substantial battery. Seven other charges brought against Jose Veliz were read into the record and dismissed when he recently appeared in Fond du Lac County Court. He will be sentenced on May 16th. The victim was 11 years old when the assaults allegedly began. She told investigators he threatened to hurt her, her mother, or the child she was babysitting if she told anyone about the assaults. Veliz denied having any sexual contact with the girl.
