FDL PD Officer Assaulted During Arrest

A Fond du Lac Police Officer suffered non-life threatening injuries after being assaulted late Thursday evening (1/13/2022).

The FDL PD was notified Thursday evening at 10:19 p.m. that a neighbor was attempting to break down a door at an apartment building located on E. Merrill Ave.

While on location, and interviewing other residents in the complex, the responding Officer was approached by a 44-year old Fond du Lac man in a second floor hallway. The Officer asked the residents to go back inside their apartments as the male continued to approach the Officer.

While the Officer attempted to talk to the approaching male, the suspect assaulted the Officer, with the Officer suffering a broken nose, fractured finger, and other injuries. The 4-year veteran of the Police Department was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released.

The suspect was transported to the Fond du Lac County Jail and is being held on numerous criminal charges.
