FDL Police Release Name Of Lakeside Park Accident Victim
A Tuesday evening accident took the life of a 5-year old boy. The incident occurred at approximately 8:48p.m. Tuesday, when Fond du Lac Police Department and City of Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue personnel responded to Lakeside Park West, off of Howard Litscher Dr.. for a report of a 5-year-old male being struck by a vehicle in a parking lot north of the boat launch area.
The Fond du Lac Police Department has released the name of the young boy, identified as Jayden Kaufman. Preliminary investigation indicates that Jayden was with his mother while she was meeting with friends at Lakeside Park West. The group was meeting in a parking lot north of the boat launch area. According to the investigation, Jayden was sitting on the pavement playing when he was run over by a 2002 GMC Sierra pick-up-truck driven by a 20-year-old Fond du Lac man. The driver was in the process of leaving the parking lot when he struck Jayden.
Officers arrived on the scene and immediately began giving CPR to the boy. Once on the scene, Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue paramedics continued CPR, while also transporting the child to St. Agnes Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Fond du Lac Police Department extends its deepest sympathies and condolences to Jayden’s family during this difficult time. The accident remains under active investigation.
