FDL Senior Center, Public Library, YMCA Announce Temporary Closures due to COVID-19

The Fond du Lac Senior Center, Fond du Lac Public Library
and Fond du Lac Family YMCA were the latest names to be added to the list of closures
related to the spread of COVID-19 in our area.

The Senior Center announced early Monday they will be
closed until further notice, with only a drive up noon meal delivery for
seniors continuing on during the shutdown. A post on the center’s Facebook page
says that anyone who feels “lonely, isolated, or if you have needs that aren’t
being met” can call the center at 920-322-3630 for connection to local
resources.

The library announced later in the day Monday that
they were closing as of 5 pm, with a tentative re-opening date set for April 6th.
A press release says all buildings – including the main library downtown, the
FDLPL Express and Chapter 52 Bookstore – will be closed. No materials will be
available for checkout, with due dates adjusted for all materials for an extra
30 days and fine-free check in provided through May 1st. “We
determined that public and community safety was best served by this temporary
closure.” Director Jon Mark Bolthouse said.

The Fond du Lac Family YMCA has also announced a temporary
closure for their facility. The YMCA will close starting Tuesday and will
remain closed until at least Sunday, March 29th, but a press release
says there is not a re-open date set at this time, due to the nature of the
situation surrounding COVID-19. The release says that the YMCA’s Child Care
Center will remain open, so as to provide a “safe and reliable” place for working
parents to place their children.
