FEMA Approves Lost Wage Assistance Program Application In State

The Department of Workforce Development says FEMA has approved the state’s application to dip into the Lost Wage Assistance Program, which allows anyone who’s currently receiving at least 100 dollars per week in unemployment benefits to have that boosted to 400, up to a maximum of 12 hundred dollars per week in total benefits. Officials say they still need time to set up and test the distribution network for the extra benefit, meaning those on unemployment may not get the boost until October.

The move, part of a series of executive orders signed by President Trump last month, gives anyone who is currently drawing at least 100 dollars per week the chance to receive the extra cash, but it won’t be effective immediately. Officials say they still need time to set up and test the distribution process, so it could be October before the bucks are rolling.
