On Sunday January 26, 2025, at 3:37pm Fond du Lac Fire rescue was dispatched to a house fire at 93 S Bell St.
Upon arrival crews found heavy fire showing from the rear of the two-story duplex residence. The home was occupied at the time of the fire and both residents were able evacuate the building. One of the residents was taken to St Agnes hospital by private vehicle for burns to the forearm following an attempt to extinguish the fire.
The fire was brought under control in approximately one hour. Crews had a difficult time extinguishing and overhauling the fire due to the unique building layout and numerous enclosed spaces throughout the attic and second floor apartment.
The fire remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac Fire Rescue investigation team, with the focus being on some garbage receptacles outside the building.
Both residences in the building are uninhabitable due to the fire and both the occupants will be staying with relatives following the incident.
Fond du Lac Police assisted with scene management and traffic control and Alliant Energy assisted with securing the electrical and natural gas service to the home.
