Fire Damages Johnson Street House In Fond du Lac

The Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue Department responded to a report of a house fire Wednesday January 25, 2023 at 7:25 p.m.
Upon arrival, crews found smoke coming from the 171 E Johnson Street multi family house. Fire could also be seen inside a rear window of the house.
The fire was quickly extinguished but not before it caused moderate damage to the lower apartment. The upper apartment sustained light smoke damage.
Fire department officials say the occupants of the home were cooking on the stove when a fire broke out in the kitchen.
All occupants were able to escape the residence without injury. A dog located in the upper apartment was rescued by fire crews and had no injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Fond du Lac Police assisted with scene management and traffic control. Alliant Energy was called to the scene to secure gas and electric utilities. City water department assisted with shutting off water utilities. Red Cross was contacted and is working on assisting 8 total displaced tenants between the two units.
