Fire weather again high for the area today

The National Weather Service is again saying that fire danger is elevated today, Monday, March 17, 2025.

A special weather statement put out this morning says gusty winds and dry air will combine with dry grasses and other fuels to create elevated to near critical fire weather conditions today.

The most significant conditions will occur during the late morning and afternoon hours, when humidity values will fall to near 25 percent in some areas, with south winds gusting 30 to 40 MPH.

In these conditions, Fires will very easily start and rapidly spread.

The weather service goes on to say use extreme caution if working outdoors with any sources of spark or open flame, and strongly consider postponing any planned open burning until a more favorable weather day.
