Five Vehicle Injury Crash Closes I-41 Southbound Tuesday Afternoon

The Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue Department, Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, and Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a report of a five vehicle crash on Interstate 41 Tuesday, April 18, 2023.

Around 2:45 PM the Fond du Lac County Communications Center received multiple calls of the crash on the southbound side between Main and Hickory Streets.

Upon arrival, emergency responders stated the southbound side of the highway was at a standstill.

City of Fond du Lac Police were called to assist in closing down the on-ramps to the highway.

While crews were working the original crash, a two vehicle crash happened at Hickory Street that required another ambulance.

Within a half hour, all cars except the one that was suspected to have caused the crash were removed and State Patrol was conducting a drunk driving investigation with the driver of that vehicle.

The highway was opened back up at 3:30.
