Fond du Lac 5th Grader Selected As Reporter For Scholastic Kids Press Program

A fifth grader from Fond du Lac has been selected to join the Scholastic Kids Press program which is an international team of Kid Reporters that reports “news for kids, by kids.”

10 year old Natalie Bendix of Fond du Lac will be one of 29 reporters on the team this year.

During the school year, Natalie will interview leaders and experts in the community about topics that matter to young people and have her stories published on the Scholastic Kids Press website, and featured in select issues of Scholastic Magazines which reach more than 25 million students in classrooms across the country.

In the programs nearly 20 years in existence, Kid Reporters have covered local, national and world events—most recently, presidential elections, the pandemic, the Winter Olympics and the war in the Ukraine.

Kid Reporters have interviewed many influential figures, including Michelle and Barack Obama; former Vice President Mike Pence; conservationist Jane Goodall; and civil rights activist Ruby Bridges.
