Fond du Lac and Sheboygan Counties added to Blizzard Warning

The National Weather Service in southeast Wisconsin has placed Fond du Lac and Sheboygan Counties under a blizzard warning for increased wind later this evening and night. Here is the wording in the warning.

WHAT…Heavy snow and blowing snow will continue into Saturday morning. Blizzard conditions are expected from late this afternoon into late tonight due to heavy snow and winds gusting to 45 mph. Additional snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches, with lower amounts possible along the lakeshore.

WHERE…Fond du Lac and Sheboygan Counties.

WHEN…The Winter Storm Warning is until 5 PM CST this afternoon, with the Blizzard Warning in effect from 5 pm CST this afternoon to 3 AM CST Saturday. The Winter Storm Warning resumes at 3 AM CST Saturday and continues until noon CST Saturday.

IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches and cause power outages. The evening commute will be impacted.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Travel should be restricted to emergencies only.
