Fond du Lac authorities busy with “high priority” incidents Thursday evening
Fond du Lac County authorities had their hands full Thursday, December 28, 2023 when they pulled over a vehicle on 151 just south of WH and the driver held a knife to his throat.
It started with officers getting notified that a person in Calumet County may have cut off a monitoring bracelet such as one that would be on a person under house arrest.
Investigative work by Fond du Lac County dispatchers linked a vehicle to this person, and a search in Flock license plate reading camera history showed the vehicle listed to the man was just seen southbound on 151 from Calumet County. Officers found and pulled over the vehicle around 5:40 PM and a stand off ensued.
The Wisconsin State Patrol assisted the county with blocking off the highway at WH and Golf Course Road.
It’s unknown how the incident ended at this time however traffic was allowed to proceed on 151 at around 6:50 PM.
At the same time this incident was happening, The City of Fond du Lac also had a high priority call.
A call came into the communication center from a person saying a man in the 100 block of north National Avenue accidentally shot himself in the head.
As more information came in, it was learned the man was at the location with his girlfriend. Once police secured the scene, A City of Fond du Lac Ambulance responded and transported the man to SSM St Agnes Hospital.
No details have been released in this incident, but City of Fond du Lac detectives were at the scene through at least 10:30 PM working the scene. KFIZ will be monitoring this story and will bring you any information as it’s released.
