Fond du Lac child abduction call turns out to be misunderstanding

On September 11, 2026, at approximately 7:53 p.m., Fond du Lac Police responded to the area of Forest Avenue and South Boardman Street following a report of a possible attempted abduction.

All available FDLPD Patrol Officers immediately responded to the area. Additional investigative resources were called in shortly thereafter to supplement Patrol and assist with the investigation.

FDLPD Officers and Detectives spent several hours conducting an intensive investigation, which included interviews, canvassing the area, reviewing available videos, and following up on all available information and leads.

Through the investigation, Detectives determined that the initial report involved two individuals who were traveling with their pets. The individuals stopped their vehicle at the intersection after hearing their pets crying and got out to check on them, which led to the initial report.

At this time, there is nothing to indicate that the incident was an attempted child abduction.
