Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney again running for Wisconsin Attorney General
Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney announced yesterday he’s again running for Wisconsin Attorney General in the 2026 election.
Toney, running as a Republican, previously ran for Attorney General in 2022, losing to Democrat Josh Kaul. It looks to be a rematch for the two as earlier this month, Kaul also announced he’ll seek re-election for his 3rd term in the position next year.
In his campaign announcement, Toney said he would prioritize supporting law enforcement officers, reducing violent crime and being more aggressive in prosecuting drug crimes, saying he’d return the Department of Justice to its core priorities: protecting Wisconsinites, supporting victims, and keeping our communities safe.
He wasted no time setting out on the campaign trail, making stops in Baraboo and Sparta on the same day of his announcement to run.
Toney has served as Fond du Lac County’s District Attorney since 2013.
