Fond du Lac County House fire brings in massive response from area departments

Nearly two dozen fire departments from five different counties responded to a house fire overnight in Fond du Lac County.

Shortly after 2 AM a passerby reported flames 40-50 feet high coming from a structure on the dead end of Draeger Lane, off Highway W just north of Dotyville. A responding officer arrived on scene and advised the house was fully engulfed in flames with surrounding outbuildings starting to catch fire.

Initially Mt Calvary, Eden and St Cloud fire departments were dispatched, but due to the size of the fire, the call eventually was upgraded to a 5th alarm MABAS call which brought in parts of over 20 departments from Fond du Lac, Calumet, Sheboygan, Dodge and Washington Counties.

While on the scene, it was learned that no one was home at the time of the fire but had been notified by neighbors and were responding to the scene.

Once the fire is extinguished, officials will work on determining a cause.
