Fond du Lac County Law Enforcement Working A Tactical Situation In The City. County K9 Has Been Shot

Fond du Lac Police Responded to the 500 block of Drury Place just before 6 AM for a report from a female that she had been held at gunpoint since 10 PM. While police were surrounding the house, a sheriff’s deputy saw the vehicle the suspect would have had access to. He tried stopping it but it did not stop. The suspect turned onto Western Avenue and then opened fire on the officer. A County Sheriff K9 was struck. The officer was not hit.
At this time, this is not confirmed but according to scanner traffic, a short time after the exchange of gunfire, the suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene. KFIZ News Director Doug Raflik reported from the scene saying he could see a body under a white sheet with the area surrounded by yellow police tape.
The K9 that was shot was being rushed to a vet clinic in the Appleton area. An unofficial source tells KFIZ that the dog was shot three times.
This is a developing situation. KFIZ will update this story when an official release comes from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office or City of Fond du Lac Police Department.
