An overnight crash Sunday, August 21, 2022 that killed a local 34-year-old St. Peter man, is being investigated by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department.

At 2:28 AM the Fond du Lac County Communications Center received a call saying a vehicle had crashed on County Road WH, just west of County Highway W, west of Mt. Calvary.

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with Mt. Calvary fire and and ambulance responded to the scene to find a truck had rolled several times, ejecting the driver. He was found near the truck and after several minutes of life saving measures, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the sheriff’s department, the driver of the truck failed to negotiate a curve as he was westbound on W and entered the ditch becoming airborne, overturning as it ended up on the north side of WH.

Officers say the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and speed and alcohol were contributing factors into the cause of the crash.
