Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office K9 remembered for years of service

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the unexpected death of K9 Ace following medical complications.

Ace joined the Sheriff’s Office in August of 2020 and spent the next six years working alongside his handler, Sergeant Andrew Kohlmann.

The Sheriff’s Office says the pair were deployed 479 times, resulting in 496 arrests.

Ace helped investigators locate large quantities of illegal drugs and other evidence, including more than 1300 grams of cocaine, more than a thousand grams of heroin and more than 2600 grams of methamphetamine.

He also helped with the seizure of more than two-thousand MDMA pills. More than 35 illegally possessed firearms and more than $100,000 in drug-related cash.

The Sheriff’s Office says those numbers don’t tell the whole story however.

Ace was described as a partner, protector and beloved member of the Sheriff’s Office family.

Officials say his work with Sergeant Kohlmann played an important role in the growth of the county’s K9 program.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to remember Ace and the six years of service he gave to Fond du Lac County.
