Fond du Lac driver cited for 5th offense OWI
A 71-year-old Fond du Lac man is facing his fifth OWI charge following a traffic stop early Friday morning, August 21, 2026, near the intersection of south Macy Street and Court Street in the City of Fond du Lac.
The Wisconsin State Patrol says Philip Capone was stopped around 2:39 Friday morning after a trooper noticed the vehicle’s registered owner had a suspended driver’s license.
The trooper reported signs of impairment, and a subsequent investigation and field sobriety testing indicated Capone was operating under the influence.
He was arrested on a fifth-offense OWI charge and booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail after a legal blood draw at an area hospital.
He was also cited for possessing open intoxicants in a motor vehicle and operating while suspended.
