Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue responds to vehicle in river in Lakeside Park
At 7:34pm Fond du Lac Fire Rescue was dispatched for a car that had backed into Lake Winnebago, near the walking bridge over the river leading to the lake off Frazier Drive in Lakeside Park. When Police officer arrived they found two individuals that appeared like they had been in the water and were later identified as the driver and passenger of the vehicle in the water. Fire Rescue personnel checked the individuals for injuries but they denied injuries or transport to the hospital.
The vehicle was located in the river just off shore with water filling the passenger compartment. Additional crews from Fire Rescue entered the river in water rescue suits to check the vehicle for any other occupants. After breaking the window, opening a door and searching the passenger compartment, no additional victims were found.
The vehicle and occupants remained with police officers and a local vehicle recovery company was called to remove car from river.
