Fond du Lac Man In Custody After Crashing Car During Police Pursuit

A Fond du Lac Man was taken into custody after crashing his car while he tried to elude a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy Saturday night.

The deputy ran the license plate of the vehicle while it traveled west on Highway 23 and the registered owner came back having a felony warrant out for his arrest.

The officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the man accelerated trying to elude the officer.

Now northbound on Highway 26 north of Rosendale, the officer lost sight of the vehicle and terminated the chase, but continued north incase the man lost control and crashed.

Near Olden Road, the officer came across the vehicle in the ditch where it struck a power pole causing the wires attached to it to hang dangerously low above the road.

The driver was out on foot running through a nearby field, and with the assistance of a Rosendale Police Officer, the two were able to catch the man.

The 31-year-old man from Fond du Lac was out on parole for forgery out of Waushara County.

He is currently being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail on felony fleeing/eluding charges and resisting an officer along with several other traffic violations.

Both lanes of Highway 26 were shut down for approximately 2 hours while Alliant Energy worked to repair the power lines on the roadway.
