Fond du Lac man sentenced to 50 years prison for 2021 homicide

Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney announced Monday, March 24, 2025, that the second of two men involved in an armed robbery and fatal shooting in the City of Fond du Lac in 2021 has been sentenced.

Eric Perry was convicted in December of last year for the crimes which occurred on October 17, of 2021.

At that time, Perry and another man were said to have robbed a known drug dealer of money and a gun at an 8th street residence in the City of Fond du Lac.

According to the criminal complaint, a witness told police that Perry was responsible for the murder, and police were able to track Perry down and arrest him.

Investigation showed on the night of the death, the victim, Benzel Rose, had taken a photo of himself with a wad of cash, and posted the photo to the social media site snapchat. Police located at least two of the bills in Rose’s photo in the possession of Perry, matched by the serial numbers. Perry also was found to have Rose’s blood spattered on his pants.

In December of last year, Perry pleaded no contest to second-degree intentional homicide with a dangerous weapon, armed robbery with use of force and felon in possession of a firearm, all as a repeat offender.

He was sentenced to 50 years of initial confinement and 20 years of extended supervision.
