Fond du Lac man wanted for eluding police at the end of February turns himself in

A man who led police in several Fond du Lac County high speed pursuits at the end of February, but ultimately got away, turned himself in to authorities Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
39-year-old Ronnie Johnson of Fond du Lac was first spotted traveling at a high rate of speed on I-41 near Townline Road around 11 AM February 27th when a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to pull him over. Johnson accelerated, leading to the first pursuit. It was already known to officers that Johnson, the suspected driver, had warrants out for his arrest.
Johnson traveled into Winnebago County where he evaded capture and the pursuit was terminated.
Minutes later, a deputy spotted the vehicle driving erratically south on Van Dyne Road in the Town of Eldorado. Although not being pursued at the time, the vehicle’s dangerous driving prompted another pursuit. Johnson zig zagged back and forth over county roads in the northwest portion of the county, avoiding tire deflation devices before law enforcement decided to stop pursuing him and wait at his known residence in the City of Fond du Lac, to which he never showed up.
Johnson turned himself in at the Fond du Lac County Courthouse yesterday where he had an initial appearance and is now being held on a half million dollar cash bond, charged with multiple counts including multiple failure to update sex offender registry charges, 2 counts of 1st-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety and two counts of Fleeing/Eluding an Officer in a motor vehicle.
He’s due back in court Thursday for a preliminary hearing.
