Fond du Lac Nearly Upsets Neenah Plus Friday Scores

Fond du Lac knew Friday night’s Fox Valley Association matchup against fourth-ranked Neenah would be a challenge—and it lived up to the billing. After falling behind 14-0 following Neenah’s first two offensive possessions, the Cardinals responded with a 1-yard touchdown run by Eli Michalewicz. A successful two-point conversion narrowed the gap to 14-8 heading into halftime.
The Cardinals came out strong in the second half, taking their first lead of the game on a 48-yard touchdown burst from Mason Henschel. Fondy found its rhythm in the third quarter, scoring three touchdowns, but Neenah kept pace with two of their own to stay within striking distance.
In a tense fourth quarter, Fond du Lac held a slim 29-28 lead before Neenah reclaimed the advantage with a clutch 34-yard field goal. The Cardinals had a late opportunity to rally, recovering a Neenah turnover after giving the ball away themselves, but time ran out before they could mount a final scoring drive.
Fond du Lac now sits at 4-4 overall and 2-4 in the FVA. The Cardinals will close out the regular season next Friday at home against Oshkosh West at Cardinal Stadium.
