Fond du Lac Noon Rotary Holiday Lights to get new look this year
To commemorate the 100th plus year anniversary of the Fond du Lac Noon Rotary Club, the Club is making a significant investment, over $30,000, in upgrading the Fond du Lac Noon Rotary Holiday Light Show. The upgrades are also supported by a District Grant from Rotary District 6270, and installation by CD Smith and The City of Fond du Lac.
The Noon Rotary club assumed responsibility for the set-up of the Fond du Lac Noon Rotary Light Show in 2018. The Light Show is located on the hill at the northwest corner of Lakeside Park and contains over 5 stories of lights and components. Over the past few years, after a couple of winter storms, the main structure has sustained considerable damage, rendering some of the components unusable and also caused some reconfiguration of the original set-up. Also, the set-up and tear down of the structure consumed a considerable amount of time and effort each year for the Noon Rotarians.
Under the vision of Rotarian Brian Kolstad, a revised configuration utilizing flag poles will allow the primary structure to be lowered during inclement weather avoiding potential wind damage and has resulted in considerably less set-up time. Additionally, we have been able to add some new features to the show, including new trees, a revised grid, and upgrades to the light controllers. The Fond du Lac Noon Rotary Light Show is the major project for the Noon Rotary club and continues to be free for all of the Fond du Lac community to enjoy.
Fond du Lac Noon Rotary Holiday Light Show Leader Brain Kolstad shared his prospective. “I get a lot of positive feedback about the holiday light show and what it means to families in our community, especially the children. We try to make improvements every year by adding a new song or a new light feature, but our biggest challenge has been keeping up with repairs from wind damage. The new structure will help us to focus on creating stunning visual effects and keep the show running year after year. I’m excited about the show that we have for this season!”
Shows start at 5:00 pm and end around 11:00 pm every day from Thanksgiving night through January 1st. As always, there is no charge to see the show. A parking lot is open across the street from the display for best viewing. For updates check us out at www.fdlrotary.org and follow us on Facebook. Enjoy the show!!!
