Fond du Lac School District and Marian University partner to expand college-credit opportunities for high school students

The Fond du Lac School District (FDLSD) has entered a new academic partnership with Marian University that will allow high school students to earn college credit through University Collaboration Credits (UCC) during the regular school day. The collaboration strengthens our district’s commitment to rigorous learning experiences while helping manage instructional costs amid a $7.5 million budget reduction.

The new University Collaboration Credits (UCC) program enables eligible Fond du Lac High School students to earn both high school and college credit in the same course. Classes meet 8-8:50a, mirroring Fond du Lac High School’s first-hour schedule. Students may enroll when:

  • A high-demand course section at the high school is full, or
  • Our district cannot staff a course due to specialized certification shortages.

Initial offerings will focus on mathematics and sciences, areas that consistently generate student interest and align with college entrance requirements. Grades and credits appear on both Fond du Lac High School and Marian University transcripts, giving students a valuable head start on their degree. Students who would like to explore enrolling for Fall 2025 should contact Mrs. Michalkiewicz in Student Services or Mr. Michalkiewicz in the Principal’s Office for details and next steps. UCC complements FDLSD’s existing Cooperative College Access Program (CCAP) with UW Oshkosh and, together with FDLSD’s dual-enrollment partnership with Moraine Park Technical College, offers three pathways for earning college credit while still in high school — further expanding opportunities for Fond du Lac students and their families.

Strategic Benefits

  • Academic Excellence: Students experience authentic university instruction without leaving their high school environment.
  • Schedule Integration: Classes run during the existing 8-8:50a period, preventing conflicts with core high school courses and cocurricular commitments.
  • Operational Efficiency: Sharing instructional capacity with Marian University offsets staffing gaps and supports our district’s cost-containment plan.
