Fond du Lac Shooting Victim Was Asleep In Bed When Struck By Stray Bullet

New information has been released regarding one of the 3 shooting victims from Sundays Maplewood Commons shooting that left one woman dead.

Today, May 9, 2023, Fond du Lac Police said the 49-year-old male was inside an upper apartment sleeping when he was hit by one of the bullets during the shooting spree.

Also new was the release that a 4th person was struck by a bullet. This injury was listed as a graze on the leg of a male that was in the same apartment as the 49 year old.
Both the 18-year-old and 49-year-old that were transported to the hospital are now listed in stable condition.

Fond du Lac Police Chief Aaron Goldstein says there has been significant developments and new information from interviews, tips, and reviews of various video recordings, though he wouldn’t go into specifics citing the case is still in it’s investigative phase.

20-year-old Catyanna Zech was killed by the 14-year-old gunman Sunday evening in an apartment complex parking lot at the corner of Martin Avenue and Pioneer Road.

A fundraiser will be held this Saturday at Throwback Pockets on south Main Street in Fond du Lac to help the family with funeral expenses. The event gets underway at 7.

The 14-year-old shooter and a 17-year-old accompice remain at large.
